Hanover County Public Schools is pleased to announce that parents, guardians, and students can now subscribe through Blackboard Connect to receive text messages, in addition to emails and/or phone calls, from their school and/or the school division. We will primarily use text messages for urgent messages such as school closings during inclement weather or in the event of an emergency.
As the new school year rapidly approaches, now is the perfect time to log in to the Blackboard Connect portal to update and customize your subscriptions. You can add multiple phone numbers (both landlines and cell phones) and email addresses on your Blackboard Connect account. You can change your preferences at any time.
Please note, the primary phone number that you provided when you registered your student is the default number that the system will dial for any urgent/emergency messages. Using the new features in Blackboard Connect, you may provide as many additional phone numbers as you would like to receive urgent/emergency messages. If you do not provide any additional numbers in the Blackboard Connect portal, you will only receive a phone call on your main phone number, from the school database, in the case of an emergency. Please contact your student’s school directly if you have questions about the primary phone number that is listed in their system for your student.
As a reminder, your Blackboard Connect school subscriptions do not automatically update as your student moves from one school to the next. You will need to log in to the portal to manually select your new school to receive messages and deselect the previous school to stop receiving messages.
Please email us if you have any questions or need assistance. We hope you have a great school year!
